The Flipkart Big Billion Day 2025 sale promised irresistible deals on premium smartphones, especially the Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. Many eager buyers kept their money ready and rushed to hit the ‘Buy Now’ button, but what followed left them furious. Within hours of placing orders, several customers reported receiving cancellation notifications—despite having already made payments. Frustrated shoppers quickly branded the event as Flipkart’s “Big Billion Scam.”
Before diving into the controversy, here’s the backdrop: Flipkart had advertised the iPhone 16 series at eye-catching discounts to boost sales and clear older stock. The iPhone 16 (128GB) was listed as low as ₹51,999, while the iPhone 16 Pro (128GB) was promoted at ₹75,999.
For deal hunters, these prices were tempting enough to skip the newer iPhone 17 and settle for the previous generation. The discounts went live on September 22 for Flipkart Black and Plus members, with regular users gaining access a day later on September 23.
lipkart Cancels iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro Orders
When the Big Billion Day sale went live, many shoppers managed to book the iPhone 16 at the heavily advertised prices. But their excitement didn’t last long. Within hours, Flipkart began cancelling several of these orders, leaving buyers frustrated.
Numerous customers reported receiving cancellation notices citing “payment failure,” even though their transactions had been successfully processed.
Disappointed users quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share screenshots of the cancellations, with many calling the incident an “alleged scam” and voicing strong criticism of Flipkart’s handling of the sale.
Flipkart also cancelled bookings, increased prices on other models
It was not just the iPhone 16 customers who faced the issue. Several buyers of other smartphone models, like the Google Pixel 9, Nothing Phone 3, and iPhone 14 were also facing the same issues.
According to a media report, Flipkart is yet to issue any statement concerning the abrupt cancellation of a huge number of customer orders following successful payment.
