Chandrapur: Wildlife enthusiasts planning a visit to the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) will have to shell out more this season, as the management has announced a sharp hike in safari fees under the management quota. The revised rates will come into effect from October 1, 2025, coinciding with the reopening of the reserve after its annual four-month monsoon closure.
Widely known for its rich biodiversity and frequent tiger sightings, TATR attracts tourists from across India and abroad, including celebrities and photographers. However, the new fee structure is likely to pinch the pockets of local visitors and middle-class families.
Revised Safari Charges
Core Area (Monday–Friday):
- Entry Fee: ₹4,600
- Guide Fee: ₹700
- Vehicle Fee: ₹3,300
- Total: ₹8,600
Core Area (Saturday–Sunday):
- Entry Fee: ₹8,600
- Guide Fee: ₹700
- Vehicle Fee: ₹3,300
- Total: ₹12,600
Buffer Zone (Monday–Friday):
- Entry Fee: ₹3,600
- Guide Fee: ₹700
- Vehicle Fee: ₹3,000
- Total: ₹7,300
Buffer Zone (Saturday–Sunday):
- Entry Fee: ₹6,600
- Guide Fee: ₹700
- Vehicle Fee: ₹3,000
- Total: ₹10,300
Previously, core area weekday safaris cost ₹7,600 and weekends ₹11,600, while buffer zone charges stood at ₹6,300 on weekdays and ₹9,300 on weekends.
Concerns Over Higher Costs
The steep increase has sparked concern that fewer local and middle-income tourists will be able to afford the experience. Nonetheless, reserve authorities defend the revision, citing TATR’s international reputation and the rising demand for its buffer zones, where popular tigers such as Maya, Sonam, Matkasur, and Chota Matka often draw crowds.
The updated rates have already been uploaded on the reserve’s official website, and visitors booking safaris from October 1 will be required to pay as per the new structure.
