Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cleared the proposal of a four-lane cement concrete highway connecting Nagpur and Chandrapur. The proposal for a 204 km road from Nagpur to Chandrapur and Mul was cleared during a meeting at the CM’s official residence ‘Varsha’ in Mumbai. He also directed the authorities to prepare a detailed report for the road construction.
While planning and executing any road work, an ecosystem should be considered. The Nagpur-Chandrapur road will be further extended to Navegaon More and Surhagad Steel Project. Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, and Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar were present in the meeting.
Fadnavis also instructed to follow the time schedule for completing the developmental projects to prevent the escalation of cost. Presently, developmental works worth Rs 10 lakh crore are in progress. On completion of these projects, the economy will get a boost.
The works on providing basic facilities should be uploaded on the Gatishakti portal. A notification to this effect will be issued soon. The projects should be planned keeping in mind the possible difficulties in the future.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) should form different sections for effective operations and procure human resources through outsourcing. He also issued instructions to avoid irregularities to prevent delays in bill payments. The bills should be verified using modern technology.
Fadnavis said that 16 restrooms are being constructed on the Samruddhi Mahamarg, four of which should be developed for tourists. MSRDC may appoint an advisor for the purpose.

2. Nagpur-Gondia 162 km 4-lane expressway. Land acquisition and permission cost – Rs 18,539 crore.
3. Bhandara-Gadchiroli 4-lane Expressway, 94 km. Estimated Cost: 10,298 crore.
