The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has formally called on the Centre to ground all Boeing 787 Dreamliners operated by Air India, citing repeated electrical malfunctions. In a letter to Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, the pilots’ union also demanded thorough inspections of the aircraft’s electrical systems and a special audit of the airline’s operations. In its communication, the FIP referenced two recent incidents: In Air India Flight 117, the Ram Air Turbine (RAT)system was unexpectedly deployed during landing approach at Birmingham on October 4. During the monthly review meeting with domestic airlines, chaired by Minister Naidu, emphasis was placed on safety protocols and performance metrics.
