The Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed IndiGo to complete refunds for all cancelled or disrupted flights by 8:00 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2025, warning that delays or non-compliance will invite immediate regulatory action. The ministry also instructed the airline not to charge any rescheduling fees for passengers affected by cancellations.
Passenger disruption continued on Saturday, with over 500 flights cancelled, and Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport reporting the worst impact.
To improve redressal, the ministry asked IndiGo to set up dedicated passenger support and refund facilitation cells to proactively contact affected travellers and process refunds or alternate arrangements without repeated follow-ups. Automatic refunds will remain in place until operations stabilise.
IndiGo has also been told to trace and deliver any baggage separated from passengers due to disruptions within 48 hours, with clear tracking updates and compensation in accordance with passenger rights rules. The ministry said it is coordinating with airports and other stakeholders and providing additional facilitation for senior citizens, differently-abled passengers, students, and patients.

Following the order, IndiGo said it would fully refund all bookings cancelled between December 5 and 15.
The government has also taken note of fare spikes after the disruptions and issued a directive to all airlines to follow prescribed economy fare caps on affected routes until normalcy returns.
