The South East Central Railway (SECR), Nagpur Division, has announced that pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking work will be undertaken on the Up line in the Dongargarh section. The work is part of the construction of an additional loop line aimed at enhancing operational capacity and improving safety. As a result of this infrastructure upgrade, the movement of several passenger trains will be affected.
Railway officials said efforts are being made to complete the work at the earliest. However, during this period, several MEMU and passenger trains operating between Raipur, Gondia, Durg, Dongargarh, Itwari, Balaghat and Jharsuguda will remain cancelled on different dates between December 26 and December 29, 2025.
Among the trains cancelled are the Durg–Gondia MEMU, Gondia–Itwari MEMU, Raipur–Dongargarh MEMU, Dongargarh–Raipur MEMU, Gondia–Jharsuguda MEMU and Raipur–Itwari Passenger. In addition, some services will be short-terminated. On December 27, the Raipur–Dongargarh MEMU will terminate at Durg, while the Dongargarh–Bilaspur MEMU will originate from Durg instead of Dongargarh.
Passengers travelling on these routes are advised to plan their journeys accordingly. The railway administration has requested passengers to check the latest train status through the Railway Enquiry Service, NTES, the IRCTC website, or by contacting the nearest railway station before commencing their journey.
The railway authorities have expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assured that the completion of this work will lead to improved train operations in the future.
