Nagpur city and nearby tourist destinations witnessed a massive influx of tourists to welcome the New Year 2026 in grand style. Against the backdrop of Christmas and December 31 celebrations, all resorts operated by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) in the Nagpur region recorded 100 percent occupancy, while more than 80 percent bookings were reported at private resorts.

Under the guidance of Nilesh Gatne, IAS, Managing Director, MTDC, Mumbai, tourist resorts have been beautifully decorated with elaborate electrical illumination to welcome the New Year. Special arrangements featuring traditional Maharashtrian and Marathwada cuisine have been made for tourists. Several entertainment programmes such as DJ nights, live orchestra performances, magic shows and fun games have also been organised.
Vidarbha region is home to a rich variety of tourist attractions including national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, forts, waterfalls, hot water springs, lakes and dams.
Recently, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra declared Vidarbha as ‘Tiger Country’, giving a major boost to tourism in the region.As part of New Year celebrations, tourists are visiting popular destinations such as Tadoba Tiger Reserve, Pench–Sillari National Park, Navegaon–Nagzira, Navegaon Bandh, Bodalkasa and Chandpur.
Despite all resorts being fully occupied, enquiries from tourists continue to pour in, informed MTDC Senior Regional Manager Dinesh Patil.
