Nagpur:Liquor sale will remain completely prohibited across Nagpur city for three consecutive days—from January 14 to January 16—in view of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) general elections, as per the directives of the State Election Commission.
Polling for the NMC elections is scheduled on Thursday, January 15, while counting of votes will be conducted on Friday, January 16. In accordance with election guidelines, liquor sale has been banned on the day preceding polling, on the polling day, and on the vote counting day to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
As per the official order issued by District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, all licensed liquor outlets, bars, permit rooms, and retail shops operating within the Nagpur Municipal Corporation limits will remain closed on Wednesday, January 14, Thursday, January 15, and throughout Friday, January 16.
The administration has warned that strict legal action will be taken against license holders found violating the prohibition order during the election period. Authorities have appealed to citizens and liquor vendors to cooperate and comply with the election-related restrictions to maintain law and order in the city.
