The stage is set for the counting of votes for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections, with the process scheduled to begin at 10 am on January 16, in accordance with the guidelines of the State Election Commission. Counting centres have been established across all ten zones of the city.
Each Returning Officer has been provided with 20 tables for counting votes recorded through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and four tables for postal ballots. Counting will commence simultaneously in all zones, officials said.
Clear trends are expected to emerge between 12.30 pm and 1 pm. However, authorities indicated that the final results may be slightly delayed this time.
The NMC administration has completed all necessary preparations for the counting process, in addition to arrangements made during polling. To ensure a smooth and efficient exercise, each counting table will be manned by one supervisor and one assistant.
Media centres have been set up at all counting venues, and counting for all wards will begin at the same time. Notably, the civic elections are being held after a gap of nearly nine years.
