Maharashtra’s float in the Republic Day parade was adjudged the Best Float. Maharashtra’s ‘Chitrarath’ depicted the state’s cultural richness. The Government of India announced the results on Thursday. Floats from Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala stood at second and third places respectively.
Maharashtra presented float on theme ‘Ganeshotsav: Symbol of Self-Reliance’. Besides the cultural richness, culture, social celebration and employment generated through it, and self-reliance were effectively projected in the float. The float had traditiona Dhol-Tasha and Lezim troupes.
In other categories Indian Navy’s presentation and Delhi Police Parade Group were adjudged the Best presentation. Under Central Government’s category float by Cultural Ministry was adjuged the Best Presentation. The dance performance ‘Vande Mataram Dance’ by the Central Government’s Public Works Department was honoured with a special award.
