The Chandrapur district administration has suspended five government personnel, including two teachers, after an inquiry found alleged irregularities in electoral roll revision work.
The disciplinary action was ordered by the District Collector and District Election Officer, who held the officials responsible for failing to perform duties related to the preparation, verification and updating of voter lists in accordance with election guidelines.
Among those suspended are R.B. Yesambare, an assistant teacher at Murlidhar Bagla High School, and Anand Gedam, an assistant teacher with the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation. The remaining three suspended employees — Sonu Dhumne, Kiran Ramteke and Manoj Shende — are attached to the Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) Regional Headquarters in Chandrapur.
The administration stated that the inquiry revealed serious lapses in carrying out statutory responsibilities, particularly in the inclusion and deletion of voters during the electoral roll revision process.
The suspension orders have been issued under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and the Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1979.
During the suspension period, the officials will be barred from taking up private employment or engaging in any business activity, in accordance with the Maharashtra Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1979. The Collector’s office has warned that violation of these conditions may invite further disciplinary action, including the withdrawal of subsistence allowance.
