In a decisive action, the Pardi Police raided a flat in Ashirwad Apartment, Pardi, and busted an illegal betting racket operating during the India–Pakistan T20 World Cup match. The operation was launched after police received specific information about ongoing betting activities being coordinated from the location.
During the raid, police arrested accused Mithilesh Prayagnarayan Choudhari (38), who was allegedly managing live bets on the high-stakes cricket match. Officials found that the accused had been using multiple electronic devices to communicate with bettors and monitor match updates in real time. Police seized 12 mobile phones, 2 laptops, a DVR system, and other betting-related gadgets. They also confiscated ₹18,085 in cash, believed to be linked to the betting transactions.According to officials, the accused was actively setting betting rates, handling calls from clients, and tracking the match simultaneously when the police team caught him red-handed.
A case has been registered under appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and applicable gambling laws. A detailed investigation is now underway to identify others connected to the racket.The crackdown was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, including Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nandanchandra Reddy, Additional CP Gajanan Rajole (South Region), DCP Niketan Kadem (Zone 5), and ACP Rohit Aolekar.The raid team comprised PSI Sunilkumar Kakade, PO Arvind Kolhe, and other personnel from Pardi Police Station. Authorities have stated that similar operations will continue to curb illegal betting activities, especially during major cricket tournaments.
