Indian Railways will discontinue its long-standing UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) mobile app from March 1, 2026, marking a significant digital transformation for passengers nationwide. The familiar UTS app, widely used for booking unreserved tickets, platform passes, and season passes, will be phased out as the new RailOne super app assumes all online ticketing and related rail services. RailOne consolidates multiple functions into a single platform, aiming to simplify journeys for millions of commuters across the country.
UTS App Steps Down; RailOne Takes Charge
From March 1, the UTS app will no longer support ticket bookings or season pass services. Users are being urged to install and migrate to RailOne, the unified digital platform from Indian Railways. Introduced as part of a broader initiative to consolidate digital services, RailOne replaces several standalone apps by integrating services such as unreserved and reserved ticketing, platform ticket issuance, train enquiries, and PNR status checks under one interface.
Railway officials stated that the phased discontinuation is intended to streamline ticketing processes and reduce the need for multiple apps on commuters’ smartphones. Importantly, passengers can use their existing UTS or IRCTC credentials to log into RailOne, ensuring a seamless transition.
Enhanced Features and Passenger Benefits
RailOne is designed as a comprehensive digital solution for rail travel. The app enables users to:
- Book unreserved and reserved tickets
- Purchase platform tickets
- Check live train running status and coach positions
- Track PNR status
- Order food through food-on-track services
These enhancements aim to make train travel more convenient, particularly for daily commuters and long-distance travellers.
To encourage adoption, Indian Railways has been promoting RailOne since January 2026, offering incentives such as a 3% discount on unreserved ticket bookings via digital payment methods, valid until mid-July 2026.
Preparing Passengers for the Transition
Commuters can continue using the UTS app until February 29, 2026. After this date, RailOne will become the sole platform for all ticketing services. Indian Railways has urged passengers to download and familiarise themselves with RailOne in advance to ensure a smooth transition and avoid inconvenience, especially for daily local train users accustomed to the UTS interface.
This move represents a major step in the digital transformation of Indian Railways, modernising how passengers access ticketing services and travel information across the country.
