The Amarnath Yatra and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra have been temporarily suspended from July 19 following an adverse weather forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg said the Amarnath Yatra has been halted on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes as a precaution to ensure the safety of pilgrims. No onward movement of pilgrims will be allowed from the Baltal and Nunwan/Chandanwari base camps in Kashmir.
Similarly, no Amarnath pilgrim convoys will be permitted to leave Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu until further notice.Authorities said the Yatra will resume only after a comprehensive assessment of weather conditions and confirmation that the routes are safe.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board also announced the temporary suspension of the Vaishno Devi Yatra, citing the IMD’s weather advisory and the need to ensure the safety and well-being of devotees.
