A series of four mild earthquakes within a span of 24 hours has caused concern in Harsul and nearby villages of Trimbakeshwar taluka in Nashik district. Although the tremors were low in intensity and no injuries or major damage have been reported, the repeated shocks have left residents anxious.
Officials said the first tremor, measuring 1.5 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 7:49 pm on Sunday. A second quake of magnitude 1.35 followed around midnight. Two additional tremors, each measuring 1.2, were felt in the early morning and later in the afternoon. All four events were recorded by the seismological centre.
Despite their mild intensity, the frequency of the tremors has unsettled villagers. Several families reportedly stepped out of their homes as a precaution, and some chose to remain outdoors overnight fearing further shocks. Children and elderly residents were particularly affected by the anxiety.
Residents have urged the administration to stay vigilant and ensure adequate disaster preparedness. They have also called for regular monitoring and communication to prevent panic from spreading.
District authorities said disaster management teams are on alert and closely tracking seismic activity in the region. Officials appealed to citizens not to panic and to adhere to safety advisories. They also clarified that there have been no reports of structural damage so far.
Mild tremors have been reported in the area during similar periods over the past two years, especially between December and February. In light of the recent activity, local officials have begun inspections in affected villages to assess ground conditions and interact with residents.
While the situation remains under control, the repeated tremors have heightened concern across the rural belt of Nashik district. Authorities have assured that developments are being closely monitored and updates will be issued if necessary.
