Global pop sensation Shakira has officially announced “Dai Dai” as the anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026, teaming up with Nigerian music star Burna Boy for the much-awaited track. The song is scheduled to release on May 14 and has already sparked huge excitement among football and music lovers worldwide.
The announcement was made through a teaser video filmed at the iconic Maracanã Stadium, one of football’s most legendary venues. In the teaser, Shakira is seen performing amid vibrant visuals celebrating football culture and the spirit of the World Cup. The singer shared the clip on social media with the caption, “From Maracanã Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14.”
The anthem marks Shakira’s return to the World Cup music stage after the massive global success of “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Over the years, she has remained closely associated with football through chart-topping World Cup tracks including “La La La (Brazil 2014).”
The FIFA World Cup 2026, to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, will feature 48 teams for the first time in the tournament’s history. With “Dai Dai” bringing together two of the biggest names in global music, expectations are already high for the anthem to become one of the defining highlights of the tournament.
