Meta, the social media giant owned by Mark Zuckerberg, has announced new paid subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The plans, named Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus, were unveiled by Meta’s head of product Naomi Gleit in a video shared on Instagram.
“Hey everyone, exciting news for how we’re building value with our new subscriptions products. We’re starting to roll out Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus, with enhanced features that our community already loves. These subscription plans offer richer ways to express and connect across our apps with more fun features to be added,” she said.
According to the company, the subscription plans will provide users with additional features, enhanced personalisation tools and premium experiences across Meta’s platforms. The company is also working towards bringing all its subscription-based services under a unified brand called Meta One in the future.
“We’re also thinking about how to bring this all together in a way that makes sense. You may see us testing subscriptions under the name Meta One. While we’re still testing and learning, eventually we see Meta One as the one place that brings our subscriptions together across all of our apps,” Gleit added.
Meta is also reportedly developing premium AI-powered tools aimed at businesses and content creators. These tools are expected to help automate tasks, strengthen brand presence and make content creation more efficient.
The announcement comes at a time when Meta is investing heavily in artificial intelligence infrastructure and AI-driven products.
According to reports, Instagram+ and Facebook+ subscriptions are expected to cost $3.99 (around Rs 384) per month, while WhatsApp+ may be priced at $2.99 (around Rs 288) per month. The company has not yet announced pricing details for India.
The new subscription plans are expected to offer premium features such as advanced analytics, profile customisation options, wider audience reach and story rewatch statistics. Meta is primarily targeting creators, influencers and users seeking greater visibility and control across its platforms.
