In a major crackdown on prohibited food products, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Nagpur, seized 419.766 kilograms of scented tobacco worth approximately ₹5.99 lakh from a residence in Bunkar Colony on Sunday.
The prohibited food articles were allegedly being stored at the residence of Azhar Iqbal Rehman Qureshi located at NOCN-82, Bunkar Colony, Nagpur.According to FDA officials, the seized stock consisted of scented tobacco products, which are prohibited under food safety regulations. The total value of the seized material is estimated at ₹5,99,272.
Following the seizure, an FIR (No. 366/2026) was registered against the accused under Sections 123, 223, 274 and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
