The five-year election process of Gorakshan Sabha, Nagpur’s oldest organization dedicated to cattle protection and conservation, was recently concluded with all office-bearers and executive members being elected unopposed.
The election was conducted under the supervision of Election Officer Advocate Girish Khorgade and Deputy Election Officer Advocate Shri Channe. Sarang Gadkari was elected President, while Prakash Dixit was chosen as Vice President. Prasanna Paturkar was elected Secretary, Pushkar Buti Joint Secretary, Harshal Arvikar Treasurer, and Ashutosh Gote Office Minister. CA Shirish Bhagat, Dilip Massey, Niranjan Risaldar, Ram Munje, and Mamta Chinchwadkar were also elected unopposed as executive members.
Established in 1888, Gorakshan Sabha manages the historic Gopalkrishna Temple at Dhantoli and its Wardha Road premises. The organization also operates an agricultural unit and a goshala at Pendhari village on Umred Road, where nearly 2,000 cows are currently being sheltered and cared for. Along with cattle protection and conservation, the Sabha is actively engaged in the preservation and breeding of indigenous Indian cow breeds.
Looking ahead, the newly elected body has announced plans to construct a modern, well-equipped building to further strengthen the organization’s activities and infrastructure.
