The Nagpur unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has successfully trapped a Motor Vehicle Inspector attached to the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Nagpur Rural, while allegedly accepting a bribe for processing a truck permit.
According to ACB officials, the complainant, a truck owner-driver, had applied for an All India Permit for his vehicle at the Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh border check post at Khubala. During the verification process, officials allegedly pointed out deficiencies in the documents and informed him that the permit could not be issued. However, as the complainant required the permit urgently, he approached the concerned RTO office again.
The complainant alleged that Motor Vehicle Inspector Pravin Baburao Gaydhane (50) demanded a bribe of Rs 1,500 for issuing the truck permit. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB Nagpur and lodged a complaint on June 10, 2026.
After verifying the complaint, the ACB laid a trap on June 11, 2026. During the operation, the accused allegedly accepted Rs 900 as the first installment of the demanded bribe for processing the truck permit. The ACB team caught him red-handed while accepting the amount.
Following the trap, a case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Khapa Police Station, Nagpur Rural.
