Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday performed the Bhoomi Pujan and unveiled the foundation stone for a 10,000-Ton Aluminium Extrusion Press at the Ordnance Factory Ambajhari, a unit of Yantra India Limited in Nagpur.

The ceremony was attended by Vijaykumar Iyer, Chairman and Managing Director of Yantra India Limited, along with senior defence officials and other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh described the project as a symbol of India’s transformational mindset and growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing. He said that products and capabilities for which India once depended on foreign countries are now increasingly being developed domestically.

Highlighting the lessons from global conflicts and supply chain disruptions, Singh emphasized that every nation must ensure that critical security-related requirements are produced within its own borders.
“The needs for which the country had to once look outside are now being gradually built in our own country by our own citizens. In times of war and global uncertainty, every country wants its security requirements to remain in its own hands,” he said.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said India’s defence capabilities have earned global recognition and reflected the nation’s growing strategic strength.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said the operation showcased India’s military preparedness and technological advancement to the world.

“The entire world now believes that India is a country which cannot be taken lightly. This is not the old India; this is New India—an India that stands firmly on its own strength and self-reliance,” Fadnavis said.
The upcoming 10,000-ton aluminium extrusion press is expected to significantly enhance India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities by enabling the production of high-strength aluminium components used in advanced defence and aerospace platforms, further strengthening the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the strategic sector.
