The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday carried out a nationwide mock drill at examination centres to assess preparedness for the upcoming NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21. The exercise was aimed at ensuring the smooth and secure conduct of the test following the cancellation of the original examination amid allegations of a paper leak.
The mock drill was conducted across designated centres to evaluate security arrangements, candidate verification systems, surveillance infrastructure, and overall operational readiness. Officials said the exercise was intended to identify and address any logistical or technical issues before the re-examination takes place.
The NEET-UG examination originally held on May 3 was cancelled after allegations surfaced that the question paper had been leaked, sparking widespread controversy and raising concerns over the integrity of the country’s largest medical entrance test. The decision to hold a fresh examination was taken to ensure a fair and transparent assessment process for all candidates.
As part of the enhanced security measures, authorities have strengthened monitoring mechanisms at examination centres, including CCTV surveillance, biometric verification, and stricter protocols for exam staff. Special arrangements have also been made to deal with emergencies and technical disruptions on the day of the examination.
The NTA has urged candidates to rely only on official sources for information related to the examination and has warned against misinformation circulating on social media platforms. Officials reiterated that stringent measures are in place to safeguard the sanctity of the examination process.
The re-examination on June 21 is expected to witness the participation of lakhs of medical aspirants from across the country. With the mock drill completed successfully, authorities are confident of conducting the test smoothly under heightened security and supervision.
