Applications have been invited from Scheduled Caste beneficiaries of the Ramai Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Indira Awas Yojana for the installation of 1 kW rooftop solar power plants.
Under the scheme, the State Government will provide an additional subsidy of Rs 15,000 over and above the financial assistance offered by the Central and State Governments for the installation of a 1 kW rooftop solar system.
The scheme is open to Scheduled Caste beneficiaries in Maharashtra who have received houses under government housing schemes such as Indira Awas Yojana, Ramai Awas Yojana or Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and have an electricity connection of up to 1 kW.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must fulfil the following conditions:
- The applicant must be eligible under the Central Government’s rooftop solar scheme and the application should be approved under the scheme.
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra.
- The applicant must belong to the Scheduled Caste or Neo-Buddhist community and possess a valid caste certificate issued by the competent authority.
- The applicant must have received a house under a government housing scheme such as Indira Awas Yojana, Ramai Awas Yojana or Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and the house must be used for residential purposes.
- The family’s annual income should be within the eligibility limit prescribed under the housing scheme.
- The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
- The household must have a valid electricity connection from MSEDCL (Mahavitaran) with no outstanding dues.
- The applicant should not have previously availed any subsidy for a rooftop solar power system from the Rural Development Department or any other government department.
- The applicant’s Aadhaar must be linked to the bank account for direct benefit transfer.
Eligible beneficiaries will receive an additional subsidy of Rs 15,000 from the District Annual Plan (Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan) for installing a 1 kW rooftop solar power plant, in addition to the subsidy provided under the Central Government scheme.
Eligible beneficiaries should submit their applications to the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Social Welfare, Samajik Nyaya Bhavan (B Wing), Near Deekshabhoomi, Shraddhanand Peth, Nagpur.
Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Sukeshini Telgote has appealed to eligible beneficiaries to submit their applications before the prescribed deadline.
