Continuous monsoon showers lashed Nagpur, uprooting trees at several locations and causing waterlogging in low-lying areas. Significant water accumulation was reported at the Manish Nagar Underpass, Narendra Nagar Railway Under Bridge (RUB) and Loha Pul RUB, affecting traffic movement and causing inconvenience to commuters.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Nagpur recorded 70.6 mm of rainfall during the latest observation period. The city’s minimum temperature was 21.6°C, relative humidity reached 97%, and winds were recorded from the west-southwest (WSW) at 250°.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Nagpur, has issued a Yellow Nowcast Warning at 10:00 am, valid for the next three hours, forecasting light spells of rain at isolated places in Nagpur. Citizens have been advised to exercise caution while travelling, as intermittent rainfall may lead to slippery roads, poor visibility and localized waterlogging.
NMC’s Fire and Emergency Services remained on high alert throughout the night. Between 11:00 pm and 8:00 am, fire teams attended seven emergency calls, including five incidents of uprooted trees and two waterlogging-related emergencies. During the previous shift (4:00 pm to 11:00 pm), the department responded to 10 emergency calls, comprising eight uprooted tree incidents and two waterlogging complaints, highlighting the impact of the ongoing monsoon across the city.
