To transform the city’s public transport ecosystem and diversify revenue sources, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has outlined a series of phased initiatives. The Municipal Commissioner has directed officials to appoint a professional transport consultant to develop and expand non-fare revenue streams.
As part of the plan, the NMC will repurpose decommissioned buses into mini libraries, cafés or boutique restaurants through public-private partnerships. These refurbished buses will be stationed at high-footfall locations, including the NMC Headquarters, IT Park, MIHAN and Government Medical College, to generate additional revenue while creating innovative public spaces.
