A 30-year-old man, identified as Atul Suryavanshi, has been arrested from Narsala village for allegedly molesting minor girls in Hudkeshwar and its adjoining localities. Following the registration of multiple cases against him, the accused was remanded to judicial custody on June 30.
According to the police, Suryavanshi used a specific modus operandi, targeting young girls in residential areas, near playgrounds, and close to shops. He would frequently approach them on a scooter when they were alone or with friends.
At least two specific incidents have come to light. In one case, a 15-year-old girl alleged that the accused grabbed her hand and molested her. This led to a case being registered under relevant legal sections, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. In another incident reported from Swagat Nagar, a 15-year-old girl alleged that Suryavanshi made obscene gestures and molested her while she was playing badminton with a friend. He fled the spot when confronted by the girl’s father.
During the ongoing probe, police discovered that the accused had allegedly targeted several girls in the area, creating an atmosphere of fear among local residents.
The police are currently verifying whether more victims were targeted and have appealed to citizens to come forward with any information. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
