Young prodigy Nabhya Bhardwaj has carved his name among the stars by securing the Third Prize Junior at the International Astronomy & Astrophysics Competition (IAAC) 2026. Competing in an incredibly rigorous academic arena where over 9100 students participated from across the globe, Nabhya successfully navigated one of the world’s most challenging youth science competitions. The IAAC is globally renowned for testing the limits of students’ understanding of complex cosmic phenomena, astrophysics theories, and analytical problem-solving. Through three highly competitive rounds, Nabhya secured the coveted Gold Honour, a distinction awarded exclusively to top-performing participants.
His extraordinary victory places him in an elite cohort of global winners, standing alongside top-tier students from the United States, Italy, Romania, Indonesia, and Denmark. As the only Indian student to secure an International Award among this year’s top performers, his achievement stands as a beacon of excellence for the entire nation. Nabhya is the son of Shri Shailendra Bhardwaj, an employee of NTPC Limited, currently serving as DGM (P&S) at NTPC Mouda.
Decoding the mysteries of the universe at such a young age, Class 10 student Nabhya has brought immense pride to his family, DPS Kamptee Road school, and the entire NTPC community. The entire country joins his family, teachers, and school community in celebrating a young mind who has truly made India shine in the global astronomy community. Nabhya has also been selected as the youngest authors in India under the PM-YUVA 3.0 Mentorship Scheme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, implemented by the National Book Trust (NBT).
