The investigation into the murder of businessman Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn, with police claiming to have uncovered evidence suggesting that the prime accused, Siya Goyal, had allegedly entered into a secret marriage with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary months before Agarwal’s death.
Ketan Agarwal allegedly died after being pushed from Lohagad Fort near Lonavala on June 18. Police have arrested his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and Chetan Chaudhary in connection with the case.
According to investigators, WhatsApp chats and other digital evidence recovered from the accused’s mobile phones indicate that Siya and Chetan had allegedly married in secret around four months before the incident while concealing the relationship from their families. The findings, have added a new dimension to the investigation.
Police said they examined call records, location data, WhatsApp conversations and internet search history spanning the past six to seven months. During the analysis, investigators allegedly found material suggesting the two had secretly married and later conspired to eliminate Agarwal.
Investigators further claimed that the first alleged attempt to kill Agarwal was made on June 14 but did not succeed after Siya allegedly lost her nerve. According to police, she later sent a WhatsApp message to Chetan saying, “I don’t have the courage to do it. You come too—together we’ll push him off the cliff.”
Police allege that the two subsequently carried out the murder on June 18 by pushing Agarwal from Lohagad Fort. The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations are yet to be tested in court.
