In a move aimed at making civic administration more transparent, dynamic and citizen-centric, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will observe Public Grievance Redressal Day across all its zonal offices on Friday.
The initiative, envisioned by Mayor Neeta Thakre and guided by Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Itankar, will be held regularly on the second and fourth Friday of every month.
The programme is being launched with the support of Deputy Mayor Leela Hathibed, Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani-Wakhare and Ruling Party Leader Narendra (Balya) Borkar to ensure the speedy resolution of civic issues and service-related complaints.
Municipal Commissioner Dr Itankar has issued an official circular directing all Assistant Commissioners to personally hear and address public grievances from 10 am to 1 pm on the designated days. Each zonal office has been instructed to maintain a separate register for recording complaints and applications received during the programme.
Department heads have also been directed to closely monitor and follow up on every case to ensure timely resolution of grievances. The presence of all Zonal Assistant Commissioners and department heads has been made mandatory during the grievance redressal sessions.
