The minimum temperature has been on rise in the city after hitting the record low of 3.5 degree Celsius. On Tuesday the minimum temperature in Nagpur went up marginally to reach 5.4 degree Celsius. However, this did not provide any relief to locals from the nail biting cold as the northerly winds continue to sweep the city on the new year eve. According to the met officials cold wave will sweep parts of Vidarbha region in the next 24 hours with minimum temperature likely to remain around 10 degree Celsius.
Severe cold wave has been sweeping Vidarbha with mercury hovering below 10 degree Celsius in nine districts of the region. Nagpur is still the coldest place in Vidarbha with a minimum temperature of 5.4 degree Celsius. According to the meteorological officials the minimum temperature in many parts of the region in particular Gondia, Akola, Bramhapuri, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli remained low.
Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Nagpur predicted that cold wave condition is likely to prevail at isolated places in Vidarbha for next 48 hours. Other cities in Vidarbha including Brahmapuri (6.6 degree Celsius), Yavatmal (9.2), Gondia (6.7), Akola (7.2), Amravati (9.6), Buldhana (10.8), Chandrapur (6.8), Wardha (10) and Washim (9.2) experienced the winter chill. According to RMC, the East Madhya Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh are getting affected by severe cold.
