Get ready to eat Lok Sabha

by TLN Team January 21, 2019January 21, 2019

Imagine you eat up the entire Lok Sabha alone and you are rewarded. Doesn’t it sound strange? But wait. It is not a building, but Lok Sabha is a non-vegetarian thali offered by a restaurant in the city.

There are other thalis too in the restaurant which are served having some novel names like Rajya Sabha Thali, Mahanagarpalika Thali and Gram Sevak Thali. These items are served at Kukku’s Family Restaurant at Karve Nagar, Wardha Road.

The restaurant was started in the city by three youths Amit Jadhav, Vivek Waghmare and Rohit Kamble, a month ago.  Speaking to TLN, Amit, a resident of Pune and banker by profession said, I always wanted to do something unique, something out of the box and suddenly this idea struck me.  First I suggested my friends in Pune about this concept, but then I thought why not I myself implement it. So, when I started the restaurant in Nagpur along with my brother-in-law Vivek and our friend Rohit, we decided to serve some unique dishes to the people of Nagpur.

Speaking about the names of the thalis, Vivek said there was a period when a large number of people would sit and have food together. But gone are the days now. In the age of nuclear families, we see only 4-5 people visiting the restaurants and relishing the delacies. However, our each thali is so huge, that it is impossible for a single person to finish it. It requires some 7-8 people to do the honours and so we decided to name them after the democratic institutions where you find a huge crowd. Not just that, the restaurant has a reward scheme wherein if a single person is able to finish one full thali, he would be rewarded a cash prize of Rs 11,111. If two people do the job, the thali would be free.

The Lok Sabha Thali, sufficient for 7-8 people, consists of 20 different items including sweets, salad and much more, which comes at Rs 2100. The Rajya Sabha is meant for 4-5 persons while the Mahanagarpalika Thali is for a couple and the Gram Sevak for one single person.

The vegetarians need not get disappointed as the restaurant has some mouth-watering dishes on the platter for them too.

“Our aim is to serve quality, delicious food to everyone at reasonable prices,” said Amit.
