Various programmes are being organised at the narrow gauge rail museum with a view to inform the people about the heritage of the railways as well as the antiques on display at the museum.

The museum of South Eastern Central Railway, situated at Motibag, is the only museum in the country, where models related to narrow gauge system like the locomotive that was in service earlier, coach, wagon etc are on display. In addition, toy train, swings, garden and the ticket window made in the guard’s bogie are the other attraction of the museum.  Various activities are being organised from February 7 to 23rd to promote and popularise the museum.

A Heritage Walk was organised on Thursday from playground Motibag to the museum at Kadbi Chowk. SECR Divisional Railway Manager, Shobhana Bandopadhyay flagged off the walk. A large number of railway officials, employees, Civil Defence officials and school students participated in the Heritage Walk. Similarly, a quiz competition has been organised for the students from eighth standard to tenth standard from 10 am to 11 am on February 16 at the museum.  On February 23, a drawing competition has been organised for the students from standard I to IX in three groups from 10 am to 12 noon at the same venue.
