State govt teachers won’t be engaged in election duty

In the wake of the Supreme Court’s order to release the board results by June 10, the State government has decided not to engage the state board high school teachers in the election duty.

The Lok Sabha elections may be held in April end or May, the notification for which is expected to be issued by the election commission of India next month.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education had already announced the dates for practical and theory exams of SSC and HSC. The practical exam of SSC will be held between February 10 and February 28 while theory examinations will be held between March 2 and March 22. The HSC practical exams are already underway and theory will begin on February 21 and conclude on March 20.

As per the apex court order the result of the board exams has be declared before June 10. Considering the shortage of manpower and tight election schedule the state government had decided not to engage high school teachers in exam duty. An order had been issued to all nine divisions of the board and respective district collectors.
