Grand function marks Road Safety Day

The Nagpur police organised a grand programme to mark the annual Road Safety Day at Shivaji Stadium, Police Headquarters, Katol Road on Wednesday.

Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay presided over the programme where Road Safety Patrol platoons of 45 schools participated in a parade while eight schools presented cultural programmes spreading message of national integrity and alertness.

Joint Commissioner of Police; Ravindra Kadam, Additional Commissioner of Police B G Gaikar, Deputy Commissioners of Police Nilesh Bharne, Ms Nirmala Devi, Rahul Maknikar, G S Rajmane and Vivek Masal were prominently present on the occasion.

The first prize of best parade was bagged by Rajkumar Kewalramani Highschool, Jaripatka.  Hindustan Vidyalaya, Lakadganj and South Point School, Omkar Nagar bagged the second and third prize respectively. The entire parade was led by Niketa Tembhre and Parul Ringe.

Similarly, St Xavier School, Hiwari Nagar bagged first prize in cultural programme while Modern School Koradi and Hindustan Highschool, Lakadganj bagged second and third prize respectively.

The parade displayed the hidden talents of the students besides disciplined administration creating awareness of traffic rules. Around 3000 audience present on the occasion was administered the oath of following traffic rules.

The programme was organised by Traffic Police Inspector Vazir Sheikh along with employees and instructors of Road Safety Patrol under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Raj Tilak Roushan.

Ms B G George and Ms Sangeeta Shriwas conducted the programme.
