This International Women’s Day was special for Divisional Railway Manager (DRM); South Eastern Central Railways (SECR); Shobhana Bandopadhyaya. The reason – she bagged the best DRM award from the Union Ministry of Railways.  The award was not bestowed on her simply being a woman but as an appreciation of her leadership and performance excellence directed towards improving delivery on Indian Railways. Union Minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Goel sent her the certificate of award personally congratulating her.

Speaking to TLN, Ms Bandopadhyaya said of course it’s a moment of joy for everybody here at SECR. “I am very happy to receive the award,” she said. However, it was not an easy task. To reach the mark, the Nagpur division had to achieve the target in the given time and also in the given parameters, the SECR DRM explained the hard work that fetched the award.  “Undoubtedly it is a team work. Each individual at SECR worked hard, worked like a family and performed every task that was assigned to him or her. The result is before all of us,” said a jubilant Bandopadhyaya attributing the success to all her colleagues.

Asked about her next target or mission, she said being in service sector, we are always on our toes. “The day all the passengers are happy with the services we provide would be the day we would have achieved our target,” she said.

This recognition will be ensconced in the annals of the history of the Division and would definitely spur up the officers and staff to enhance productivity by scaling new heights through more dedicated efforts towards their duty.

Nagpur Division of SECR played a pivotal role in ensuring execution of various rail projects. These multiple tasks were in addition to its conventional role of providing smooth movement of freight and passengers trains in the territorial jurisdiction of Nagpur Division.

The onerous task of capacity augmentation and visible enhancement in passenger amenities needed meticulous planning and inculcation of innate self belief amongst the various departments of the Division in order to achieve the stiff organisational objective. The stupendous feat of committed efforts of the Division wherein every employee contributed his mite was definitely destined to be glory bound.

In the year 2018-19, a number of challenging tasks were completed successfully. Conversion of Itwari-Kelwad to broad gauge and starting a train for people recently was one small achievement for the SECR.
