Anand Rai wins Rai Cup 2019

Rai Cup Golf Tournament, annually organised by Sunit Rai in memory of his father late Sunderlal Rai was played in Kamptee. A large number of golfers of the region participated in the tourney. This year the tournament cup was kept on best gross. Anand Rai won the Rai Cup 2019 with the gross score of 79 and Tejinder Singh Renu emerged runners-up with the gross score of 81 on the Kamptee course of Par 72.

Under the stable ford category, the winner was Captain Prabhat Verma (Retd) and runners-up was Wing Commander Vivek Bhatia. Lt. Gen. Ravi Thodge (Retd) won the trophy of maximum pars and birdies. Longest drive with a distance of 271.35 yards was won by Col R S Raghav, closest to pin was won by Col. V W Vaidya (Retd) with distance from pin 4.20 meters and closest to centre line with a distance on 0.45 meter was won by Prakash M. Kheta.

In veterans’ category played over 9 holes of Par 36, Col S J Majumdar (Retd) won the prize for best gross of 47 and runners-up was Group Captain D D Deshpande (Retd) with score of 48.

In the women’s category played over 9 holes of Par 36, M M Joshi won best gross while Anjali Despande was runners-up. While other winners in  putting competition were Tanu Hundal, Shanu Raghav, Meera Menon, Shivangi Raghav and Pragati Rai.

Prizes were distributed at the hands of Brigadier Pankaj Malhotra, Commandant, Guards Regimental Centre, Sunit Rai and Pragati Rai.
