City shuttlers in second round

City shuttlers  Ritika Thaker, Malvika Bansod, Mugdha Agrey and Rohan Gurbani   entered the  second round of the  All India Ranking Badminton Tournament at KBA Bengaluru.

In the women’s singles first round Ritika defeated  Charuta Vaidya 21-8,  21-7 in 16 minutes to meet Winona S in the second round. In the womens doubles first round 5th seeded Ritika Thaker and her partner Simran Singhi beat Anugraha and Nafeesa Sara Siraj 21-18,  21-15 in straight games to make it to the second round.

14th seed  Malvika Bansod  downed  Himanshi Rawat 21-14, 21-16 in 30 minutes. Mugdha Agrey made it to second round defeating Alfiya Basari 21-8, 21-11 in a one-sided affair in just 23 minutes. In the men’s singles event Rohan Gurbani quelled the challenge of Daniel Farid. Gurbani lost the first game 19-21.

Then in the second game he regrouped himself and restored the parity by winning it 21-15. In the decider he gave no opportunity to the rival and went on to win 21-10. The match lasted for 42 minutes.  Ritika is trained by Robin Simon and Ajay Dayal.
