Nagpur Maha Metro’s ‘Heat Action Plan’ for workers to avoid casualties

Considering the scorching heat and rise in temperature of the city, the Nagpur Maha Metro have decided to launch a ‘Heat Action Plan’ under which the metro workers can take rest and avoid casualties due to heatstroke.

All contractors working under the Nagpur Metro Rail Project have been instructed not to work between 12 and 4 pm. The Heat action plan will be implemented from May 1 to 31.

As the Meteorological Department has issued heat wave warning it will have dangerous effect on Metro workers. Till April end Nagpur has already reached 45 degree Celsius and is expected go beyond this in coming days.

According to the Heat Action plan guidelines, contractors are directed not to work between 12 to 4 pm. The working hours will be from 7 am to 12 pm and from 4 PM to 9 pm.

Also to ensure the safety of the workers, sheds have been installed in the workplace and drinking water facility has been arranged.

Apart from Nagpur, the Met office has also issued heat wave warning for other cities in Vidarbha including Chandrapur, Akola, Amrawati, Washim, Yawatmal and Wardha.
