Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday led a Ram Raksha Stotra recitation at Ram Mandir in Ram Nagar, Nagpur, protesting the alleged misappropriation of donations linked to the Ayodhya Ram Temple. Senior party leaders Aaditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut, along with party workers, participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Thackeray alleged that the BJP had used Lord Ram’s name to attain political power but had failed to protect the faith of devotees. He demanded that the alleged financial irregularities be investigated by an independent retired judge, claiming that the proposed SIT probe was merely an eyewash.
Referring to the Ram Temple issue, Thackeray questioned whether the temple had been built for sacrifice and devotion or for the alleged theft of devotees’ donations. He also alleged that land in Ayodhya had been purchased at low prices and later sold at inflated rates, calling it an insult to the faith of crores of Ram devotees.
Asserting that Shiv Sena (UBT) would never abandon Hindutva, Thackeray accused the BJP of straying from its own ideology. He announced that the party would take its agitation across Maharashtra and later to Ayodhya and Kashi Vishwanath. He also questioned RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s silence over the allegations and urged him to clarify his stand.
Calling the issue “a fight between temple thieves and Ram devotees,” Thackeray said the party wanted a “BJP-free Ram” and demanded that those responsible for the alleged irregularities be brought before the public.
