The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has made a special provision in the budget for the students to bring out the new ideas proposed for the development of the city on the occasion of ‘Mayor Innovation Award’ in Nagpur. This project is going to be a milestone in terms of sustainable development. This initiative has been affected by the Directive Board of G-Com, and will cooperate with the Global Covenant of Meyers (GCom) Interoperability and Mentorship for effective implementation of concepts and approaches that come through this project.
Mayor Nanda Zichark is the sole board member from the Global Coentant of Meyers (Gcom) Council on South Asia. On 26 and 27 June, the Board of Directors of GCOM was held in Paris, France. The meeting was attended by the chairman of the GCOM Board of Directors, Michael Bloomberg, Maros Sefcovic, Christiana Figueres, and the mayor of the city of Akra, Ghana, Mohd Adjei Sowh, Mayor of Morocco, Mohamed Sefiani of Chehohn City, Chef Chouhoune of Morocco, Mayor Eckart Wurzner of Heidelberg City, Nanda Jichkar, Mayor of Nagpur city of India, Mayor of France Paris Anne Hidalgo, City of Pittsburgh, USA Mayor Bill Peduto, Gcom’s executive director Amanda Eichel attended.
In the meeting of GCOM Board of Directors, GKM has been planning to participate in various activities organized in the next 12 months on environment and energy. Various issues were discussed including, Innovate4Cities, Data4Cities, Invest for Cities and Invest4Cities.
Mission Innovation Partnership under Innovate for Cities, Student Energy Partnership, Cities and Climate Science Conference, Research & Innovation Technical and such other topics were given priority during the meeting. It also focused on creating a city-based system for commercial purposes.
Nagpur Mayor Nanda Jichkar represented South Asia in this meeting of the Board. About Nagpur, she informed about the ongoing environment and energy projects in the field of sustainable development. The Mayor gave a presentation on the Innovation Award.
Under this initiative, many innovative concepts were developed through the students. He said that the city will be used for development. Mayor Nanda Jichkar appealed to GCOM to cooperate to implement this implementation more efficiently.
