Monsoon is that season, when your heart and brain, by default start feeling good. When the heavens burst forth with a great roar, your tummy too demands some lip-smacking food with a roar of the same intensity! So, what is it about the monsoon that sets it apart from all the other seasons and makes you crave a different variety of food items? Well, nobody really knows the reason behind it but it is perhaps thanks to the beautiful climate that it brings along.

In order to calm your craving of food, we want to list few food items that are synonymous with monsoon season.

Let’s have a look at 10 drool worthy food items that can be enjoyed during this rainy season:

1. Bhutta (Corn)

If you love spicy food and even if you don’t, just grab the ‘Bhutta waala bhaiya’, nearest to you. Its tastes even better with your friends and loved ones, sitting in open, enjoying stove-hot bhutta. Just make sure that your bhutta is garnished properly with loads of lemon juice and spice.

2. Pakoras

Mouth-watering pakoras and a cup of tea is a mind-boggling combination, during the monsoon. You can alter your choice by choosing from wide range of onion pakora, potato pakora, cauliflower pakora and paneer pakora. Homemade or buying those from street-side, pakoras are the best option, topped with mint sauce and imli chutney.

3. Samosa

Samosa can be considered as another drool-worthy snack, this monsoon. Gone are the days, when people had only potato samosa on their list, now you can choose from the wide range of specialized samosas. You can choose from Pasta samosa, chilly-paneer samosa, nutria- samosa, and numerous other varities. So, without giving a second thought just drool on them.

4. Masala Chai

What could be better than sitting under a roof-shed, in your office or be it in your balcony and enjoying little raindrops, while listening to your favorite music track, with a cup of masala chai in hand? A cup of strong, masala chai consisting of ginger and green cardamom will be a complete stress-buster.

5. Vada-paav

The trademark delicacy of Mumbai is now available in every city. The buttery paav with aloo bunda is perfect for monsoon. It tastes even better, when served with green chili along with red chili paav. Beat the cold rain drops with the pleasure of hot vada-paav.

6. Jalebi

Why not add, a sweet dish to your list of monsoon diaries? Hot hot thin crisp jalebis tastes mouth-watering and delicious in monsoon. These garama garam jalebis dipped in sugary syrup with the combination of samosas are just near to perfect.

7. Maggie

This two-minute noodle obviously takes more than two minutes to prepare, but it’s totally worth the wait. Moreover, the fun of having a ‘Rain Waali Maggi’ is completely unique. Maggi is quick to make, is open to customization, and never fails to delight you. You can have an all veggie maggi, or the fried maggi, or perhaps the good old ‘default’ maggi. There are just so many ways to cook your maggi! Then its you and your Maggie in a beautiful weather

8. Soup

A bowl of hot soup, whether vegetable or clear soup is all you need this monsoon. This season not only brings happiness but carries lots of flues and viruses in the air. A bowl of healthy soup will serve both purposes, as to keep those flues away and to also to please your warm taste buds.

9. Aloo Paratha

Hot aloo paratha with cool curd and some sour pickle makes up a complete meal and is one of the best food items to eat in the rainy season. The combination of hot aloo paratha and cold curd gives you a satisfying yet contrasting flavor, which when combined with the cool breeze and rain droplets hitting your face is nothing short of delightful.

10. Pav Bhaji

This popular Mumbai dish is yet another food item that should be eaten in the rainy season. The hot and spicy bhaji is served with tava fried pavs which are soft and buttery. The combination of spicy bhaji, pavs, and chopped onions is great, and it becomes only better when eaten while enjoying the view of rains or after getting drenched. Psst: Don’t forget to add extra butter…!!

We hope that after going through this list, you are already adding more dishes to your list of things to eat in this monsoon season.
