A delegation of Central Government Employees of various Nagpur based institutions viz.  ICAR- CCRI, CSIR-NEERI, Ordnance factory, Geological Survey of India, AG office, ICAR-NBSS & LUP and CPWD recently me  Central Cabinet Minister Nitin Gadkari and requested his support to implement the affordable housing project proposal of CGEWHO (Website: https://www.cgewho.in) for Central Government employees of Nagpur and adjoining areas.

CGEWHO (Central Government Employees Welfare Housing Organization) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India and also ISO 9000: 2015 certified organization having its headquarter at Janpath Bhawan, New Delhi.

CGEWHO undertakes Social Welfare Schemes on “No Profit-No Loss” basis for Central Government employees, both serving and retired, and spouses of deceased Central Government Employees by inter-alia promoting the construction of affordable housing schemes and providing all possible help and required inputs to achieve this object.

During last over twenty years, CGEWHO has constructed more than thirty such housing schemes in several Indian cities like Navi Mumbai, Pune, Ahmadabad, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mohali, Meerut, Noida, Panchkula etc and details of these highly successful projects are available in their official website.

There are about one thousand applicants for the proposed housing project in Nagpur to be constructed by CGEWHO. Total cost for this housing project is likely to touch about 400 crores rupees and the entire fund will be contributed by Central Government Employees who are the applicants of this housing project.

Neither Maharashtra Government nor the Central Government will be required to spend any fund for implementing this project in Nagpur. Apart from providing affordable housing to nearly one thousand families, it will also generate employment in various sectors.

However, in order to implement this prestigious housing scheme in the city, CGEWHO requires about fifteen acres of land in Nagpur city or adjoining area. The delegation, led by Dr Dilip Ghosh, Sh. Vasant  Nimje, Dr. S.I. Pardamwar, Dr V. J. Shivankar, Dr Anindya  Roy, Dr. T.  M. Nikhare, Dr. G K Khadse, and Mr M. Fulmari, discussed the matter with the honorable minister.
