Vidarbha face humiliating defeat from Punjab

Vidarbha suffered humiliating seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Punjab in Vijay Hazare Trophy match at Sangramsinh Gaekwad Sports Academy in Vadodara on Saturday.

Punjab won the toss and elected to field first. Their decision proved correct as they restricted Vidarbha to 155 in 43.1 overs. Barring opening left-handed batsman Faiz Fazal (72, 96 b, 6×4, 1×6), Rishabh Rathod (26) and opener Jitesh Sharma (16) all other batsmen failed miserably.

For Punjab, Karan Kalia (4 for 32) was the most successful bowler. Sandeep Sharma and Mandeep Singh too bowled well and captured two wickets each.

Gurkeerat Singh (51) and Anmolpreet Singh (42) remained unbeaten. Abhishek Sharma (33, 50b, 5×4) and Simran Singh (22) made 59 run partnership for opening wicket and ensure a big win. For Vidarbha, Akshay Wakhare got two wickets for 29 runs.
