Ahead of Maharashtra Assembly Polls, the newly appointed Collector of Nagpur, Ravindra Thakre in a press conference which was held on October 9 at Office of District Collector, informed about the preparations and what are the measures they have taken for the upcoming elections.
He said that a total of 146 candidates will be contesting and the list of all the polling booths and number of voters will soon made available to all the candidates for the further process.And 41, 71,720 registered voters will be voting in Nagpur, out of which 21, 34,932 are male voters while 20, 36,389 are female voters. And 8,053 new voters will be voting for the first time in Assembly Polls 2019.He added.
There are total 4,412 polling centers in Nagpur. Among them 4,382 centers are marked as main booths and all the centers will be equipped with tight security and other facilities. And for the smooth functioning of the polls, 21,000 people have been appointed for election duty. He further stated that there will be facilities for specially-abled voters and for visually challenged they will provide Braille voter slip, and medication facilities are also available for senior citizen. And 683 Zonal officers in the region will train the personals for polling service.

And for social media surveillance, 21 officers are appointed in Cyber Cell. The spots for storage of EVM machines have been identified, along with 36 video surveillance team, 36 Static Surveillance Team have been appointed in Nagpur while 2 will be deployed in Ramtek and 3 in Saoner district. He informed.
Collector mentioned that 65,000 students will be giving their support in this election and also informed that how they are taking initiatives for spreading awareness about importance of suffrage among people.
