Assembly Polls: Public Holiday Declared on Oct 21 | Nagpur City News

As the day of the Maharashtra Assembly election, 2019 is near, the state government has declared a public holiday on October 21 to all the public and private sectors.

The move has been taken into consideration to increase the number of votes and involvement of people to perform their duty as a citizen.

The holiday has been announced in all the assembly constituencies on October 21. The employees will get a holiday on the day of polling in the constituency in which they have been registered as a voter.

Central Government Govt. Offices, Semi-Government Offices, Public Enterprises, Banks etc are given holiday. Even the labour department has requested private firms to give a holiday to the labours on the day of the election and has warned to take strict action against them if found any labour at work.

The commissioner of labour has even directed that if any company which can not grant a full day leave, then they must release the labours for a couple of hours to vote on the day.
