Nowadays the passengers are experiencing the worse side of security arrangements at Nagpur Railway Station. It has been reported that the main gate of the railway station which adjoins to platform no. 1 has no security guards for inspection of baggage and even the baggage scanning machine is neglected by the passer-by.
The entrance which connects to platform no. 8 has again got no security to conduct a check on the travellers. The scanning machine on this side has again got no cops assigned to do the following duties. During the night time, the residents of Bajeria are seen roaming inside the platform area in groups.
It was seen that the conveyer belt was working smoothly but none of the passengers entering the railway station’s main gate for using the baggage checking machine. These same passengers were not even asked once to use the machine or to go through a security scan while entering the platform. The main entrance did not have security guards who could guide or keep an eye on the people entering or leaving the station.
One of the security cops, appointed by Railway Protection Force (RPF) who was seen sitting next to the baggage scanning machine told TLN “there is a need of staff around the entrance and at a time only one cop is assigned for the duty. The same cop has to look after the scanning done by the machine and also has to ask people to put their baggage in it. On the other hand, the auto owners jam the drop off section and they have to be asked to clear the areaâ€.
The lady inspector also said, “A person alone cannot be present at three different locations for several other types of worksâ€.
When Dinesh Nagdeve, Station Master was asked about the current scenario of the security facilitated on the station he simply blamed it on the passengers that the travellers have a habit of jumping the security scanning and neglect every provided arrangement.
