City athletes Om, tulsi, unnati, Rutuja for junior nationals

City's Om, Tulsi, Unnati, Rutuja for Junior National Athletics Championship

Four city athletes including Om Itkelwar, Tulsi Choudhary, Unnati Chilkewar and Rutuja Shende have been selected in Maharashtra team for 35th Junior National Athletics Championship to be held at Guntur from November 2 to 6.

They were selected on the basis of their performance in the state championship held at Dervan and Pune. Om who is the member of Navmaharashtra Krida Mandal and student of Pt. Baccharaj Vyas Vidyalaya will represent Maharashtra in Under-14 boys  100 m race. He regularly practices under the guidance of Jitendra Ghordadekar at Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education. He clinched gold medal in 100 m and silver in 200 m race in Vidyabharti’s All India Championship held at Nagaur. Dadoji Konddeo awardee Bhau Kane, Dhananjay Kane, Vaishali Chatare, Shirish bhagat, Prashant Jagtap and others have congratulated him.

Similarly, Tulsi Choudhary will participate in Under-16 girls 3,000 m race. A student fo Institute of Science Unnati Chilkewar will participate in Under-20 girls long jump. She practices under the guidance of Gajanan Thakre. She created new record in recently held Inter-College Athletics Championship. In the same age category, Rutuja Shende who is a member of Track Star Athletics Club will participate in 3000 m steeplechase event.
