Nishit, Pakhi emerge U-16 tennis  champions

Nishit Rahane and Pakhi Bhatt emerged the champions in the boys and girls categories respectively in in  MSLTA Yonex Sunrise NDHTA Under- 16 All India Ranking Championship Series Tennis Tournament 2019  at Ram Nagar court, here on Friday.

In the boys singles final, Nishit Rahane was in terrific form and blasted away to 6-0 in the first set in 20 minutes. One would have thought Tanishq Jadhav being the first seed would make a comeback, but so ruthless was Nishit that he never let Tanishq settle down and took the second set 6-0 thus ending the challenge and bagging the top honours. Nishit’s accuracy today was 90% in his smashes which stood out in his favour.

In the girls singles final, Pakhi used her height to full advantage and took early lead, eventually getting the better of the challenge from Millee Chug, who surrendered in two straight sets. Both players hit hard and played from the baseline, but unforced errors and double faults ended the challenge in favour of Pakhi 6-3, 6-4.

Director (Finance) MOIL Ltd Rakesh Tumane   congratulated the players for their performance, praised the parents for their dedication, and motivated the organisers for conducting more tournaments like these, assuring support in the future.

Tournament Director and  MSLTA treasurer Dr Sudhir Bhiwapurkar congratulated the winners and thanked the sponsors for their support. He said due to such tournaments, local players get to compete with quality opponents and raise their level of the game.

Tournament supervisor  Supriya Chatterjee announced the names of the winners and the dignitaries gave away the awards and certificates.
