Final Grade Evaluation, Now Nagpur Varsity to calculate performance of all semesters

After the higher and technical education department directive, the Nagpur University will now evaluate the performance of all the semesters/years to award the final grade/division to students.Earlier, the varsity had been counting only the final-year cumulative grade point average for (CGPA) for semester pattern courses and degree division for annual pattern. For few courses, the grade is awarded by calculating last two semesters CGPA while in others the final-year percentage marks are counted for first. Second and third division.

Recently a student has submitted a writ petition in this matter and HC ordered a uniform method for marks calculation. Following the HC order the state higher and technical education department had issued a government resolution asking all non-agricultural universities to formulate uniform grade/division calculation method.

The LLB aspirant Gaurav Mahajani has filed a writ petition in Bombay HC to challenge a college when they rejected an admission for him after it found that the average of his three-year graduation was 80.30%.While he has got 81.43% marks in graduation. However,in the second round his admission was cancelled. In this case, the HC had observed that there was no uniformity regarding the UG and PG marks to be taken into consideration at different universities. And he got a favourable verdict from the HC on October 16, 2018.However; the department has taken its time to start the procedure.
