Government-recognised public libraries across Maharashtra have been invited to submit proposals for financial assistance under the 2026-27 grant schemes of the Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF), Kolkata, functioning under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The grant programmes, implemented through the Directorate of Libraries, Maharashtra, are aimed at strengthening library infrastructure and improving public library services across the state. Under the Equal Matching Fund Scheme, eligible libraries can receive financial assistance of up to Rs 25 lakh for the construction, expansion and improvement of library buildings.
The Non-Matching (Unequal) Fund Scheme offers support for a wide range of development initiatives, including infrastructure upgrades, purchase of furniture, modernisation projects, establishment of Knowledge Corners and Children’s Corners, organisation of national seminars, workshops and training programmes, public awareness campaigns, and celebrations marking major milestones such as golden, diamond and platinum jubilees of libraries.
Libraries interested in availing the grants must download the prescribed application forms from the RRRLF website (www.rrrlf.gov.in) and submit completed proposals, along with the required documents, through the office of the respective District Library Officer.
The deadline for submission of proposals is August 21, 2026. In addition to the offline submission, applicants are required to upload their proposals on the RRRLF online portal, the Directorate of Libraries has said.
